Small College All-Stars picked in NFL Draft
Congratulations to the nine small college football players who were selected in the 2012 NFL draft. The first picked was North Alabama's Janoris Jenkins, a DB from Northe Alabama (D-II) which had three players in the Hansen Bowl. Jenkins was the 39th overall pick and seventh in the second round by the St. Louis Cardinals. The 40th pick made by Carolina was for Amini Sitatolu of Midwestern State (D-II). In the fifth round with th 148th selection, Detroit selected Albion DB Chris Greenwood, the only Division III chosen. Leading off the sixth round, the Cardinals selected place kicker Greg Suertein of Missouri Western (D-II) with the 171st pick that was followed by Seattle with the 172nd choice opting for Jeremy Lane, a DB from Northwestern State (D-II). With the 189th pick, San Francisco selected OT Jason Slowey of Western Oregon (D-II), In the seventh round with the 228th selection, Jacksonville took DT Jeris Pendleton of Ashland.
USA College Basketball Showcase set for June 16 in NJ
For the first time ever in the history of college senior all star games in any sport, the MVP selection in the men's division of the 3rd Annual USA College Basketball Showcase that will be held June 16, 2012 on the campus of Mary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon will be signed to a minimum one-game pro contract by a franchise in the International Basketball League. THe criteria for selection to be selected to participate, requires a candidate to be recognized as an All-American, Region, All-Met or conference all-`star sekection by coaches. Certified agents and scuts from the NBA, WNBA, IBL, UBL as well as FIBA will be present and participate in the event. The event is approved by the NAIA, NCCAA and NJCAA and is NCAA-compliant. It will be a play-by-play video production that will be streamed internationally on the world-wide web. Invitations are in the process of being delivered and rosters will be announced by June 8.

October 03 With the approval of the NAIA, the Hansen Bowl claims complete coverage of small college football all-stars.
September 12 Withe cessation of the Cactus Bowl, NCAA Division II Senior All-Stars are invited to participate in the Hansen Bowl.
September 01 USA College Sports, Inc. creates the Hansen Bowl to replace the original USA Football All-Star Classic established in 1995 for NCAA Division III Senior All-Stars. The event is named in memory of on Hansen, the pioneer of national print media coverage for small college football through his publicaytion Football Gazette.
